Blog 4: Pre-writing for 103 Research Project

Some ideas that come to my mind are I want to either make a website on the comparison between society and the media or make a documentary on the same issue and go around asking people their views on our society and how the media has either helped it or ruined it? Also I would like to go around asking people what they like and they don’t like about our society and what the government should change? For my website if I do it I want to construct a table on what people like in our society and or media.

Related themes in "The Matrix", "Star Trek", and "Farscape"

In the movie 'The Matrix' there are so many themes through out the whole movie like religion, color, etc. In the two episodes that we saw “Star Trek episode-The Royale”and “Farscape episode-Human Reaction” there were some themes that were related to “The Matrix”.The theme I think was the most interesting was the clothing that the actors had on was a big part in the movie “The Matrix” and the other two episodes from “Star Trek” and “Farscape” because they all had a uniform of some sort on. In the 'The Matrix' all the characters wore Gothic clothing, leather, dark colors(a lot of black), a very bondage kind of look to it(freaky people lolz). In “Star Trek” they all wore kinda the same clothing but the only difference is that it would go by rank and your position in the spaceship. In the “Human Reaction” when he was on the spaceship had their clothes on to rank and position as well but when he went to earth he saw many people in jeans,tee-shirts,button down shits, and also suits, and etc. But if you notice in “Farscape” when he goes into the army base you can notice that they have a sense of order and power due to the clothes that they wore just like the aliens in both of the shows. Another theme that I thought was good was the color in “The Matrix” the color that stuck out the most was green and black and white in the movie. Like when Neo and Cypher are having a drink and Noe asks him “what does it say” he look at the computer screen and all u see is green and black thats all just like the movie logo. In the “Star Trek” and “Farscape” episode you can see that the colors go according to rank and power and also position(and sometimes even gender). Another theme was that in all pieces of media they always get stranded somewhere and have to find a way to get out like in “The Matrix” Neo gets stuck in the matrix world and has to fight the agents. Then in “Star Trek” the three guys happen to get stranded in the casino and have to solve the case to get out. Finally the last show “Farscape” it shows how the John Crichton goes back to earth and finds out that he isn't really on earth but is in a illusion created by aliens in the worm hole and he has to find a way to get out of it and also free his shipmates.
